Videos are a powerful asset for showcasing your experience to potential guests. Any video you upload will default as the main visual for your experience. We’ve found that experiences with short, high-quality, and relevant videos are more likely to make a sale than an experience with no video. If you don’t have a video uploaded, it will display your photos as usual.
While videos can be a great tool to drive sales, they do need to meet our video guidelines to ensure an optimal experience for the customer. Our 7 requirements are listed below:
- Length: 30-60 seconds long
We’ve found that videos that are ~30-60 seconds long have the most success as they are short and to the point. Long videos can also lose a customer’s attention. - Content: Video should be engaging and focus on the experience itself
Your video should be relevant to your experience and should engage customers by showing the experience versus telling them to buy it. The video should also focus on the experience and ideally show people participating so guests know what they’ll get to do. Videos that showcase the luminary’s expertise can also work if it is relevant to the experience being sold. - Video Quality: HD 1280 x 720p or 1920 x 1080p
Videos should be landscape orientation (not vertical), high resolution, well-lit, and not grainy or blurry. - Text Overlay: Little to no text overlay
Lots of text can be distracting. Keep it simple, and only use text overlay to highlight things that aren’t already made clear in the video or if there is no voiceover to provide some explanation. - Branding: Don’t include logos, watermarks, contact info, or websites on the video (end cards are okay)
Keep it clean and simple! Only highlight your brand at the end of a video with an end card, if desired. The rest of the video should focus on the experience. We also want to make sure that guests stay on IfOnly to book their experiences and sharing links or emails to outside sources can send customers elsewhere. - Unique: Listings should each have a unique video (no duplicates)
If you sell multiple experiences on IfOnly, make sure that each video you upload is specific to each listing. - Ownership: Content and music should be owned by you
It’s important that the content you share on IfOnly is owned by you, so don’t upload content like tv promos, news segments, or commercials. We’d also recommend making sure you have the right copyright permissions for any music you use.
